One of the most annoying affections that seems to exist among new age women of, shall we say, “more advanced years”, is the tendency to speak in this terrribly breathy childlike voice which really only sounds appropriate if you are six. As if this wasn’t grotesque enough it seems to be often accompanied by child like gestures and mannerisms. I have no idea why anyone would want to do this but I have a few theories:
- They think it makes them look younger.
- They think it is sexy.
- They think it makes them look feminine and helpless and in need of protection (by the male of the species).
- They think it makes them appear wiser and more “spiritual”.
